The Import Design Partition dialog box allows you to select a partition described in a Quartus Prime Standard Edition Exported Partition File (.qxp) Definition to integrate into a top-level design for team-based design or third-party IP integration. The Quartus® Prime Standard Edition Exported Partition File contains either a post-fit netlist, a post-synthesis netlist, or both.
The Import flow is not required to reuse the post-synthesis or post-fit results from a Quartus® Prime Standard Edition Exported Partition File. You can add the Quartus® Prime Standard Edition Exported Partition File as a source file in your project and set the partition's Netlist Type to choose the level of results preservation. The Import process is required in the following circumstances:
During integration, the Quartus® Prime Standard Edition software compares assignments and LogicLock regions defined for the top-level design and the partitions being integrated, and resolves conflicts using settings in the Advanced Import Settings dialog box.
After integration, the top-level design is independent of any files associated with partitions, and also from the Quartus® Prime Standard Edition Exported Partition File. Changes made to a Quartus® Prime Standard Edition Exported Partition File after integration are not automatically included in the top-level design. You must reimport the changes for them to be integrated into the top-level design.
The import design partition feature is only available after running Analysis & Elaboration.
